Gowtam Tinnanuri’s Kingdom, already underperforming at the boxoffice, has gotten itself into a bigger crisis over its portrayal of Sri Lankan Tamils. Members of the Naam Thamizhar Katchi, a pro-Tamil party, held protests outside theatres screening Kingdom demanding a ban on the film’s screening.
Videos of protesters tearing down the film’s posters are going viral on the internet.
In a flash decision the films’s producers Naga Vamsi and Sai Soujanya are now in consultation with the rest of the team to remove the offensive portion of the film
A friend of Vijay Devarakonda shares with this writer, “Yeah, they are looking at deleting the offensive bits . But will that help? The film is not doing well anyway. History has shown that tampering with a film after its release never helps.”
