Mr. India is a film that brings back a host of memories – an invisible Anil Kapoor as Mr. India dancing with a sari clad Sridevi in ‘Khate Nahin Khathi’, ‘Miss Hawa Hawai’ and of course Mogambo – the villain who became as famous as Amjad Khan’s Gabbar.

Released in 1987 Mr. India director Shekhar Kapur used a lot of camera angles and camera tricks to make his film visually appealing to his audience. But times have changed. Producer Boney Kapoor, who is preparing the script for Mr. India 2 has decided that he will be shooting this film entirely in 3-D.

“I want to take this film to the highest level. 3D would be a terrific experience with this kind of subject. We were toying with the idea for a long time, but finalised things only a few days ago,” reveals Kapoor.

Rumors are already circulating that the sequel will star original cast members Anil Kapoor and Sridevi reprieving their roles as the lead pair; a jodi that has been absent from our screens for 7 years. The most interesting casting however seems to be for the role of villain Mogambo. A character made famous by the late Amrish Puri will be enacted by none other than Salman Khan in the sequel.

With technology being the core of the film, the budget for the film is already down as Rs 100 crore.

“Yes. That’s true. I am also bringing down foreign technicians to do Salman’s look. He will be seen in a negative role that will be remembered for a long time. It’s also something he has never attempted on this scale before. Even for us, it will be a big challenge to project Salman as a negative character,” adds Boney.

Apart from this news on the grapevine is that the producer will also be looking for a young couple to star in the film, “I have not zeroed in on who it will be, but they could be known faces. I still have to finalise the director. Currently, two writers are busy completing two separate scripts. I will be choosing one of them,” says Boney.
