One of the most-awaited Hollywood films, Point Break has a surprise in store for the Indian audiences, as a high-octane action sequence features Mumbai rather prominently. According to a production source, the upcoming film features a daredevil heist being pulled off in the city. The source reveals that the sequence featuring a prominent high-rise situated in South Mumbai involves a team of thrill-seeking elite athletes pull off a daylight robbery in a diamond-sorting facility in Mumbai.
Talking about the sequence, the insider shares, “In a never-seen-before death-defying action sequence, three motorcyclists in helmets bearing images of US presidents rob a diamond-sorting facility in the sky-rise of Mumbai and escape by bursting from its 100-storey windows, dropping gems down to the slums of Mumbai as they parachute away.”
Point Break revolves around a young FBI agent, Johnny Utah (Luke Bracey) who infiltrates a team of thrill-seeking elite athletes – led by the charismatic Bodhi (Edgar Ramirez). This extraordinary team of extreme-sports athletes is suspected of masterminding and carrying out a spate of outrageous, unprecedented and sophisticated corporate heists in the most unusual ways.
The film is a remake of the 1991 cult hit Point Break starring Patrick Swayze and Keanu Reeves and this new rebooted version has been directed by Ericson Core (DoP on films including Fast and Furious and director of Invincible). The film has been shot in over four continents and 11 countries and is replete with the most daring athleticism, stunts and action sequences ever seen in a motion picture. What’s more, these action adventure feats are performed by elite athletes representing the world’s best in class in the world of extreme adventure sports.
Well, after Slumdog Millionaire and Mission Impossible 4, Point Break is putting Mumbai on Hollywood map again and with the adrenaline-pumping action sequences in store, it’s definitely one film the city’s really looking forward to.
