The noted filmmaker whose film had won a top honour at the Berlinale last year is on the jury of a prestigious award this year
Critically-acclaimed filmmaker Nagesh Kukunoor is headed to attend the Berlin Film Festival (February 11-21) where he is on the Generation KPlus International Jury (for children). Interestingly, Nagesh had attended the Berlinale last year too and his film ‘Dhanak’ had even won the Grand Prix of Berlin’s Generation’s International Jury. So, naturally, it’s now an even bigger honour for the filmmaker to be a part of the jury giving away the award.
When contacted, Nagesh admits that it’s not only a big honour, but will also be more relaxing than last year. He says, “It is a genuine honour to serve on the Generation K Plus Jury at the Berlin Film Festival since it is one of the best festivals in the world. It will be much more relaxing to attend the festival without the stress of screening your own film. When ‘Dhanak’ won the Grand Prix last year, I was at the receiving end, so it will be fun to actually hand out the prize this year.”
