Establishing himself as one of the most bankable powerhouse performers, Nawazuddin Siddiqui is known to sink into the character’s skin with an extraordinary ease. The talented actor sought actor-lyricist, Piyush Mishra’s help to get a better grasp of the North-Indian accent for his role in MOM. The latter was Siddiqui’s senior and inspiration at the National School of Drama and has known the actor since.

The 43-year-old realized there was scope for improvement before shooting for the movie. He immediately thought of Mishra and used him as a reference to deliver the strong North-Indian accent required of him.

Nawazuddin says, “When I was shooting for the movie in Delhi on the first day, after I was done with the makeup and getting ready for the shot, I suddenly thought about Piyush Mishra. I knew my character had to have a heavy north Indian accent, so I thought I could imitate him to see if it works. Surprisingly, when I started imitating him, it went well with the look and the character. I know him in real life, and meet him often. I also worked with him in Gangs of Wasseypur (2012), so I have observed his work. He is multi-talented and inspires me as an actor. In fact, we would all copy him when I was studying at the National School of Drama.”
