More than 200 dancers broke the world record for combined Bollywood dancing in Trafalgar Square on Sunday, July 6th. They danced to ‘Om Shanti Om’ and their exploits will now be recorded in the Guinness Book of Records.

In poor weather conditions, they danced for a full five minutes as part of the BBC Blast event, hosted by Erin Boag of ‘Strictly Come Dancing’. Kalpana Halai was among those taking part and said, “It was an amazing experience and really good to be taking part in a world record attempt.” Her daughter Tara, 7, was also taking part and said, “It was good fun but I found it easy.” Tara has been attending Bollywood dance classes for two years which may have helped.

‘Strictly Come Dancing’ judge Bruno Tonioli said, “”It’s a great event. It’s wonderful to inspire people to dance in their own way. It also keeps you fit, you’re having a good time and it increases your social skills.”
