The legendary composer Madan Mohan, who passed away in 1975 at the young age of 51, left behind various tunes which remained un-utilized. Some of these were used as the music score of Veer-Zaara, and won wide appreciation. He also left behind songs recorded in his lifetime which remained unheard as the films remained incomplete.

15 such songs were released on an album Tere Bagair by YASH RAJ MUSIC last year to mark the composer’s 85th birth anniversary.

After the appreciation of the album, Tere Bagair, the Madan Mohan family has, in 2010, shared with fans some more unreleased songs through his official website www.madanmohan.in Two songs by Lata Mangeshkar were featured in June, Two songs by Mohd. Rafi on his death anniversary in July and one song by Kishore Kumar on his death anniversary in October.

They are now releasing yet another “never heard before” song, this time by Asha Bhosle.

Ashaji sang several songs under Madanji’s baton, some of the memorable ones being ‘Saba Se Yeh Kahdo’, ‘Ashqon Se Teri Humne’, ‘Koi Shikwa Bhi Nahin’, ‘Jaane Kya Hal Ho’, ‘Thodi der Ke Liye’, ‘Thoda Sa Aitbar Kijiye’, ‘Shokh Nazar Ki Bijliyaan’, and of course the all time hit, ‘Jhumka Gira Re’.

Ashaji even sang some memorable duets for Madanji like ‘Zameen Se Humen Aasman Par’, ‘Aapko Pyar Chhupane Ki’, ‘Tere Paas Aaake Mera Waqt’, ‘Jis Din Se Maine Tumko Dekha Hai’, ‘Jab Jab Tumhe Bhulaaya’ and various others.

On the album Tere Bagair, we had four unreleased songs by Ashaji, a treasure for her fans. Now, for the first time, we release the song, ‘Aaj Ki Shaam Pahloo Mein Tu Aaj Ki Shaam’, a seductive dance number sung by Ashaji in her inimitable style.

This song, written by Naqsh Lyallpuri, was recorded in the early 70’s for the shelved film, tentatively titled Rehnuma. It is a very catchy composition in which, once again, Madanji displayed his mastery in creating an alternate tune for the antra. We have also added a snippet of Madanji singing as he composed this song.

We are sure Ashaji and Madanji fans will welcome this rare gem, being heard for the first time, and enjoy it, not only “aaj ki sham“, but on many a musical evening.

This song, like the ones released earlier this year, can be heard exclusively on the website www.madanmohan.in
