Playing the part of Farhan Akhtar’s girlfriend in Rock On!! (eat your hearts out girls) has led Nicolette Bird to pick up a whole raft of projects for the future. “Having only done ads before, I wanted to do something bigger and better. When Abhishek Kapoor approached me for Rock On!!, I agreed and I loved it,” says the budding young actress. She had a small but crucial role in the film, forcing the narrative forward. Her confidence in the part was recognized more widely.
Her next movie is Hodi Magi, and it will be her Malayalam debut. At first she was a little concerned about attempting to develop a movie career: “Being Anglo Indian, I speak only English. So, I couldn’t sign on for a hugely demanding role. But I’ve had six months of training and can now read and write Hindi,” she says.
Then it’s back to Bollywood for Kiss Kiss Bang Bang opposite Ejaz Khan, a new Khan on the block. “I never thought I’d have date problems,” adds Nicolette, “But now I have a shooting schedule that stretches till next June.” She will also be doing an item number in the Tollywood movie Boss. “Item numbers are a showcase for my dancing skills,” she explains.
