The world has long been fascinated by Bollywood, and almost everyone in any part of the globe wants a piece of it. Following up on Sunidhi’s association with Enrique Iglesias, it’s the turn of popular composer duo Salim-Suleiman who bagged the golden chance to work with Lady Gaga. The duo have collaborated with the singing diva to give a Bollywood panache to a remix for her hit single ‘Born This Way’, from her latest album of the same name.
Having made her mark across North America, Europe, Lady Gaga has set out to capture the hearts of South Asian fans. She tweeted this week, “I worked with some Indian Producers on “BORN THIS WAY” to show all the little monsters in India that I appreciate you!”
Wanting to ensure the song reaches to newer audiences across the globe, Lady Gaga decided to remix it with a dash of Indian beats by adding the famous dhol, sitar and tabla. Salim has further personalized it by adding a few vocals of his own.
“We have great connections with desihits.com, the website that Gaga teamed up with for this venture, and they contacted us with the offer. We were eager to do it because an opportunity like this doesn’t come along often,” explains Salim, “Indian musicians have collaborated with International artistes before, but that was mostly in the realm of classical or fusion music. In pop music, such collaborations rarely happen.”
How about more future collaborations between the two? “We’ve got emails and text messages and tweets telling us how much people love the song.
In fact, we’re already in talks to remix another one of Gaga’s songs,” Salim states elatedly.
‘Born This Way’ is creating all kinds of new records, one of them is that it became the first song to be downloaded more than a million times in just five days in the history of iTunes.
