The Raavan premiere saw the A-list of Bollywood out in force at London’s BFI Southbank. Many hundreds of Indian film fans turned up to show their support, as the first family of Indian Cinema, the Bachchans, and reigning superstar Shah Rukh Khan, walked the red carpet. But it was not just a Bollywood occasion, with key South Indian film industry figures Mani Ratnam, Vikram and Prithviraj, bringing a pan Indian flavor to the proceedings. We were on hand to share the pre-screening buzz with the stars and capture the best of the red carpet action, Bollyspice khush hua!

No denying the off screen chemistry of Bollywood’s star couple AbhiAsh

Dressed in an olive green and burgundy sari with intricate hand details, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan revealed exclusively to Bollyspice minutes before the screening, “Sabyasachi is the designer in the film so I decided to wear one of his designs”.

Following days of speculation, the King of Bollywood Shah Rukh Khan, made an appearance at the BFI Southbank. Seen her with wife Gauri and daughter Suhana and is that really Amitabh Bachchan we spy waiting at the gate?

In a scene that will remind Bollywood fans of the credits of Om Shanti Om, SRK and Gauri show how to do red carpet glamour.

When the star that is Amitabh Bachchan, is in town, London audiences are in Bollyheaven. The BBC star of the millennium perhaps the most recognizable Hindi film star to international media.

The not always-heroic-hero in Ravaan and the villain of Ravanan turns out to be one of the nicest actors we have interviewed. Remarkably calm minutes before his debut Hindi film premiere, the actor laughed and joked with Bollyspice on his way in.

We are astounded at the metamorphosis Ravanan’s Prithviraj has gone through since his early days in Malayalam cinema. “I didn’t choose the film, the film choose me”, said Prithviraj.

Count the cameras! Just some of the many Bollywood fans who turned out in force to see Aishwarya and Abhishek in person. AB told us,”I’m very excited. You work hard on a film and finally it is done and you want to put it up for judgment”.

On his two releases Raavan and Ravanan, “The films are like twins they are not identical but they are very similar”, the director shared in an exclusive with Bollyspice.

Mere pass maa hai! Radiant on the red carpet, the gracious Jaya Bachchan reminds us why we want to see the actor in front of the camera more.

Kya scene hai? It’s not often you get to overhear the gupshup between Bollywood’s star couple and their favorite director.
