2012 has been a phenomenal year so far for the Bollywood film industry, with lots more exciting films still to come! Interestingly, Prakash Jha’s latest directorial outing Chakravyuh is perhaps one of the very few political films to release this year. The film will be screening as part of the 2012 BFI London Film Festival, and Jha and the cast will be turning up for its grand premiere on 11th October. In an interview with an Indian newspaper, Arjun Rampal, who is one of the lead actors in the film, mentioned that Jha made an appearance in front of the camera and has acted in one scene. Rampal added the following: “That was the most historical moment actually because he (Jha) kept the juiciest dialogues and the best set for himself, for his scenes. But it came out as a wonderful scene and I hope it’s in the film.”

However, Jha stated to the same newspaper that this scene has actually not been included in the final cut of the film. He had this to say: “There were some junior artists like Arjun Rampal because of whom I have not been able to keep that scene in the film.” We all know that Prakash Jha is a talented director but can he pull it off as an actor (even though he has performed in just one scene)? Although we will not see it during Chakravyuh’s theatrical release, perhaps it will be included as a deleted scene when it releases on DVD sometime afterwards.

Chakravyuh stars Rampal, Abhay Deol, Manoj Bajpai and Esha Gupta and will release in cinemas worldwide on 26th October 2012. To those living in London and who cannot wait until the release date, you can catch Chakravyuh at an early screening at the BFI London Film Festival on 11, 13 and 15 October 2012.
