With a wonderful story, great music and a cast full of soon to be stars Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na is well on its way to being a huge hit. Critics and fans alike are praising the film. It is not only Imran and Genelia who are getting noticed for their outstanding performances but also some of the smaller roles, especially Prateik Babbar’s performance as Amit. Though only a small supporting part, Prateik’s portrayal of Amit has made everyone sit up and take notice including one of the biggest stars in Bollywood, Amitabh Bachchan.
Prateik is the son of the famous actress the late Smita Patel and Raj Babbar and when he heard Big B not only complimented his performance but that he also compared him to his mother, it really moved the young actor: “It feels great to be appreciated by senior actors and especially Mr.Bachchan. I got very emotional when he compared me to my mother. After the movie he told me – when I saw your acting I was thinking of your mother Smita. This really made me cry.”
“He (Bachchan) remembered the days when he worked with my mother in Shakti and Namak Halal. He also told me that he is proud I carried my mother’s legacy forward,” Prateik added.
Producer of the film, Aamir Khan, was also nothing but complimentary of Prateik’s work in Janne Tu, “Aamir said he would love to work with me again. Though my role was quite small I have been showered with compliments from everywhere. Even dad told me to keep up the good work.”
Prateik was trained at Subhash Ghai’s Whistling Woods and is interested in all portraying all sorts of roles. He said: “I would love to do all kinds of films – commercial and non-commercial, action, romantic and comedies. Basically everything.”
Prateik is certainly an actor to put on your “actors to watch out for” list, we know he is on ours! We wish him the best of luck and a long career in the years to come.
