Preeti Jhangiani is not one for extensive Durga Puja celebrations. “After taking up acting, I confined celebrations to my home and we perform a simple puja with family and friends,” she says. “I’ll be missing the festival this year but I’ll makeup for it for Diwali.”
Preeti is currently back in Tollywood working on Nakshatra. She began her Bollywood career with Mohabbatein and has moved between the two centres ever since, appearing in movies such as Anarth, Aag: Men At Work, Chehrah, Ssukh, Victoria No. 203, With Love Tumhara and Yamadonga.
Preeti has strong views about the lack of characterisation afforded female characters in Hindi movies. “Most of the Hindi films don’t care about characterization of women,” she says. “This is the greatest difference between Hollywood and Bollywood movies. They offer a role to any one available to them. They look for Bipasha and end with Meghna, if they don’t get Amisha and Kareena in between.”
