Priyamani is a shining star in the expansive firmament that is the Indian film Industry. She has skillfully embodied a myriad of diverse characters in movies made in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi. This prolific actor consistently garners rave reviews for her real, not just reel, (see what I did there?) performances.
Priyamani has showcased her talent in recent Hindi projects, including The Family Man series, Jawan, and Article 370. Her newest film, Maidaan, which will hit the big screen on April 10th, looks to be another brilliant performance by the actress. Based on what we have observed in the trailer, as expected, she has real-ly encapsulated the depth of her character, bringing light, gravitas, and authenticity. Also starring Ajay Devgn, Maidaan was inspired by the incredible true story of football coach Syed Abdul Rahim, whose passion, commitment, and skill helped make India a player on the world football stage. This film takes us along on his inspiring journey both on and off the maidaan (field).
In a fascinating, enthusiastic, and far-ranging conversation, Priyamani talked all things Maidaan with Stacey. Touching on the enriching experience of playing her role as Saira, Ajay Devgn’s supportive wife, she also revealed what it was like to act opposite Mr. Devgn – (spoiler, it was brilliant) plus so much more.
Hit play!
Maidaan, produced by Boney Kapoor and directed by Amit Ravindernath Sharma, will be released in cinemas on the 10th of April.
Thank you, Priyamani, for such an incredible interview; it was an absolute pleasure speaking with you.
