Producer Firoz Nadiadwala, who hasn’t had much luck at the boxoffice in recent years except Hera Pheri , has reportedly sent a legal notice to Netflix for unauthorised use of Baburao Ganpatrao Apte, the much-loved character played by Paresh Rawal in Hera Pheri.

Firoz Nadiadwala claims Netflix violated copyrights regarding the beloved character from Hera Pheri on Kapil Sharma’s show which featured a skit based on the Baburao character.

Nadiadwala’s lawyer Sana Raees Khan, has issued the following statement: “Intellectual Property is not a matter of casual borrowing, it is the lifeblood of creativity. Unauthorised exploitation of my client’s iconic character is not just infringement, it is theft in its most blatant commercial form. The law will not permit dilution of rights that have been lawfully earned and zealously protected.”

In the meanwhile, it remains unclear when Nadiadwala intends to actually start shooting for Hera Pheri 3 . The project has been on the anvil for more than a decade.
