Producer Prerna Arora, who has previously supported socially relevant themes in films, is back with yet another poignant movie, titled Dunk. The movie sheds light on the pervasive issue of the land mafia and how it affects farmers. Directed by Abhishek Jaiswal, the film aspires to raise awareness and trigger conversations about the exploitation of land resources.
Talking about the project, Prerna Arora spoke about how the film highlights the government’s ignorance towards the agriculture sector. She said that she also believes how cinema has the power to bring in a change in society. “Dunk focuses on the urgent need for legal protections, enforcement mechanisms, and support systems to safeguard the rights of farmers. As a society, we must stand united against this menace of land-grabbing, holding perpetrators accountable and advocating for policies that empower and protect our farmers,” Arora opined.
This is not the first time when producer Prerna Arora has lent her support to a project that focuses on a societal issue. Previously, she backed films such as Padman, Rustom and Toilet – Ek Prem Katha among others.
Her upcoming project, Dunk, not only highlights the land-mafia issue but also offers insights into the challenges faced by farmers and the communities affected due to the activities by the land mafia. The film stars Nidhhi Agerwal, Shivin Narang, Suchitra Krishnamoorthi, among others, and is directed by Abhishek Jaiswal.
