Read on to find out more about making a film as the director gives some real insight into the emotional journey during India’s Most Wanted starring Arjun Kapoor.
When asked about his views on making a film like India’s Most Wanted, he says, “It’s something that the entire country has been affected by. I need to understand that, not the tragedy of it, we all know the tragedy of it. It is a sensitive subject and you have to have some perspective on that subject. You have to know the entire thing, you do not want to sensationalise it. As a filmmaker you are always scared. I am always scared as I don’t want to sensationalise things. I want to have a perspective on things and then tell those stories. So probably, five-six years down the line, I might think that I have a perspective on telling that story. Then only I would want to attempt it.”
About the journey of making India’s Most Wanted come to life, Raj says, ”It has an emotional cost because you have to recreate those emotions. As a filmmaker it is not that you go and say that ‘chalo ye karo’, let’s shoot this. When you are shooting something like this, or even in ‘No One Killed Jessica’, or any other film, it’s never that you come and start shooting it. There is an emotional journey that you have to go through. When you are living a tragedy, it’s not just about that. You are thinking about a person who has gone through that. It kind of kills you. You become numb because you have to relive that and you have this added responsibility of doing justice to the subject or that situation, which is not easy. So emotionally it is very, very difficult.”
India’s Most Wanted is produced by Fox Star Studios, Raj Kumar Gupta and Myra Karn. India Most Wanted releases in theatres on 24th May 2019.
