Rajkummar Rao is known for taking on diverse and challenging roles and his newest character added an extra layer of preparation to bring the real to reel. In, Srikanth – Aa Raha Hai Sabki Aankhein Kholne, directed by Tushar Hiranandani, Rao portrays a visually impaired man and the actor shared recently that he cherished the experience of playing this role in this special film.

Based on a true story, Srikanth – Aa Raha Hai Sabki Aankhein Kholne follows an inspiring journey of student to businessman. In a world with odds stacked against him in every step of the way, Srikanth (Rajkummar Rao) defies norms, blazing a trail from rural India to becoming the first visually impaired student at MIT. As he builds Bollant Industries, his success brings challenges for which he would not only chase personal dreams but safeguard a shared future for the ones just like him. This is the tale of an entrepreneur`s triumph and sacrifice, both which he welcomed with open arms and a smile.

In an earlier interview, the actor said, “I love challenges. And, something that scares me excites me even more. And Srikanth did that to me. I’ve never played a visually impaired man before. I didn’t know if I would be able to do it. But that’s the fun where you push yourself out of your comfort zone. There was so much research that had to be done. Whenever I get an opportunity like that, I totally cherish it.”

The director has said that Rao was his first and only choice for the film, “When we decided to make Srikanth, we had zeroed down on Rajkummar. Pulling off a role like this is very tough, and we and we knew that Rajkummar was the only person who could do it.”

Most of the cast were visually impaired actors so that added to Rao’s challenge and dedication to make sure he was Srikanth not playing Srikanth. The director revealed, “Raj sat with Srikanth and the young boy who plays the young Srikanth in the film as well. All the visually impaired people that you see in the film are visually impaired in real life too. So, Raj had to look as real as he could. I put actors in a position to challenge themselves, and Raj has performed well.”
