Earlier we brought you an interview with Naman Ramachandran, the author of the wonderful book Rajinikanth – The Definitive Biography on one of the or some say THE biggest star in Indian films. When we spoke with Naman he was on a first leg of a book tour in India on his way to Bangalore and excited for the book to hit the shelves! Since that chat quite a few exciting things have happened. Read on to find out more!

Launched on 12-12-12, the book has been given rave reviews from critics and fans and is currently on the bestseller list! Naman says he is ecstatic with the praise and appreciation for his book. “The response to the book so far has been phenomenal. The reviews have been outstanding and the sales brisk, resulting in the book being on every non-fiction bestseller list in the country!”

However, the coolest thing is that Rajnikanth himself loved the book as well and called Naman to meet him in Chennai. “Meeting Rajinikanth again was a surreal experience. A copy of the book had been delivered to his office and one day he called me out of the blue and summoned me to Chennai. I went to his office and the first thing he said to me, even before sitting down, was, ‘What a book you’ve written.’ He said that he wasn’t expecting such a detailed book with such depth of research. He kept praising the book again and again. It’s always gratifying when the subject of your work loves it.”

Rajinikanth – The Definitive Biography was most recently launched in Mumbai with director Anurag Kashyap doing the honors. Also there to support the book was Anjali Patil, heroine of Chakravyuh. “The Mumbai launch was also a great experience, made all the more fabulous by the fact that Anurag Kashyap, who had just shot all night to complete his new feature ‘Ugly’, stayed awake so that he could launch the book. His witty repartee had everybody in splits,” says Naman.

Be sure to get your copy of Rajinikanth – The Definitive Biography in stores and online now. About the story of the Superstar with a capital S, Naman says, “I hope that readers take away apart from the story of an inspirational life, I hope that they will take the message and this may sound cliché and simplistic, but I hope that they take away the message that no matter who you are or in what circumstances you are born you can be a winner.”
