Everything is ready for Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone’s next film together. The actors worked together for the first time in Bachna Ae Haseeno (2008) while they were dating. After a much talked-about breakup they stayed away from each other professionally for a while, but they finally reunited in Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (2013), which became a box office success and put an end to all the rumours about their rift.
Initially known as Window Seat, the film has been renamed Tamasha and is director Imtiaz Ali’s next project, alongside Sajid Nadiadwala as producer. It is their second collaboration together after Highway, which was released this year and resulted in critical acclaim and success. In fact, the producer is very happy about the opportunity of working with Imtiaz again. “If I could, I would’ve had him on board four years ago. Our second movie with Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone starts in July. We wanted to work on it first, but since we had a gap of six-eight months while planning it, we made Highway. It’s a wonderful story told in a modest budget and I didn’t want to let go of an opportunity to work with Imtiaz,” Sajid told TOI.
The actress of Chennai Express has also expressed her enthusiasm for the project. In a recent media interaction, she talked about working with Imtiaz and Ranbir again. “Imtiaz is one of my favourite directors. And Ranbir and I have given hits such as Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and Bachna Ae Haseeno. I’m really excited to be working on yet another film with someone who is a great friend.”
These are not the only personalities confirmed for the project. Ali has trusted previous collaborators for the film’s soundtrack. After Highway, talented A.R. Rahman will compose the music, while Irshad Kamil, which has also previously written songs for some of Ali’s films such as Jab We Met and Love Aaj Kal, will be in charge of the lyrics.
The film is currently in pre-production and filming is expected to start in June-July this year in India and a remote European island. There is not much information about the plot, but Ali revealed that the film is not about a romantic relationship but about self-discovery.
