Randeep Hooda has become the new brand ambassador for Mumbai’s fire department. The actor shot with the fire chief, Prabhat Rahangdale, and his team of fire-fighters at Mukesh Mills on Friday and informed excitedly that this was the first time in 127 years that the Mumbai Fire Brigade has roped in a celebrity to campaign for it.

Randeep shared, “They approached me and I was happy to oblige. It’s a matter of honour to be the ‘face’ for these real-life heroes who risk their lives every other day to save lives. And they are not only fighting fire, but are also involved in rescue and relief operations which a lot of us are unaware of.”

Randeep revealed that he is not afraid of fire, but knows just how dangerous it can be given the high temperature. The actor even discussed the perils with the men-in-uniform during the shoot. As for getting into their uniform, Randeep admitted that it was a proud moment for him to wear it. “It’s hot!” he quipped.

The campaign with Randeep which kicks off on April 14, seeks to rope in volunteers from all walks of life, upping the number from 7,000 to 70,000. “There are also plans to build world-class fire stations in the city,” Randeep informed.

The actor, who is currently busy with the promotions of his soon-to-release film Laal Rang, is also being much-talked about for his realistic portrayal in the upcoming biopic Sarbjit.
