‘Rang De Basanti’ wins 7 IIFA Technical Awards

The International Indian Film Academy announced the winners of its Technical Awards which will be presented along with the awards for Best Picture, Best Direction, Best Performances and many others at the 8th Idea IIFA awards ceremony this June in Yorkshire, England.

For the technical awards, Rakyesh Omprakash Mehra’s film Rang De Basanti continued its outstanding achievements by winning 7 awards. These awards include: Best Cinematography for Binod Pradhan, Best Editing for P.S. Bharathi, Best Art Direction for Samir Chanda, Best Background score & Best Song Recording for A R Rehman, Best Sound Recording for Nakul Kamte, and Best Sound Re-recording for Hitendra Gosh. Upon hearing of the awards, Rakyesh Omprakash Mehra said, “I am overwhelmed with the response that Rang De Basanti has generated. The awards in the technical category truly encourage and applaud the excellence of people who work behind the scene in making a film so successful. I would like to thank my fans across India and the world and the IIFA platform for appreciating our film.”

Krrish, one of the biggest blockbusters of last year, won Best Action for Tony Siutung and Shyam Kushal along with Best Special Effects from EFX studios.

Dhoom 2, also starring Hrithik Roshan, picked up 2 awards for Best Costume Designing by Anaita Adajania and Best Make-Up by G A James for his outstanding work seen in all the unique looks required for Mr. A!

Ganesh Acharya won the Best Coreography award for ‘Beedi’ in the film Omkara.

The ceremony will be held on June 9th, 2007 in Yorskhire as part of the the IIFA Weekend. The four-day spectacular event will include film premieres, workshops, and fund-raising events for charity with events in Leeds, Bradford, Hull, York and London.
