Rani Mukerji apparently had a meeting in Toronto with acclaimed writer, Salman Rushdie and filmmaker, Deepa Mehta for a film based on the novel, Midnight’s Children.
Sources reveal that Rushdie wants Rani in the film because he likes her. Mehta seems to share the sentiments and said that she has always wanted to work with Rani. “I saw her work in Hey Ram, Black, Bunty Aur Babli and Veer Zaara and loved it. She is among the best talent in India today,” she said.
Mehta is tight-lipped about the forthcoming film and only says, “We’ve just finished the screenplay and we’re going to do the casting in the next couple of weeks. We hope to start filming in September.”
As we reported earlier, the film will also star Seema Biswas, Shabana Azmi and Nandita Das.
