Judging by the conviction with which she has delivered roles in the past, Rani Mukherjee is hoping to win fans’ and audiences’ applause as Mumbai’s fiercest and finest female cop in Mardaani. The actress, who will be seen performing ‘Krav Maga’, a form of martial arts to compliment her role as a tough police officer in the film, recently urged female students to take up martial arts training for their safety.
“There is a need for women power to come forward in all fields…. girl students who are symbolic of shakti, should be given martial arts training besides their regular studies, so that they can protect their pride and honour”, Rani says. In the video ‘Mardaani – Krav Maga – Self Defence – Technique #3’, released by Yash Raj Films, Rani can be seen explaining basic self-defense moves.
Setting a new benchmark in the emerging female-centric genre in Indian filmmaking on a world cinema platform, Rani Mukherjee champions her most challenging role to date in Yash Raj Films’ raw, gritty and topical thriller, Mardaani, releasing in cinemas worldwide on 22nd August 2014.
