Ranveer Singh has spoken about preparations for his role in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s next directorial venture Bajirao Mastani. The 28-year-old actor will be paired again opposite Deepika Padukone in the historical epic, following their last venture Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela. The film was planned by Bhansali while filming for Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam back in 1999 and is only now in pre-production.
“Preparations for ‘Bajirao Mastani’ is very intense. I will have to learn Marathi, horse riding, pick up the accent and do a lot of work for the character. I will have to shave off my hair, work on my look and the physical aspect,” said Ranveer in an interview with the media. “I have allotted fair amount of time to prepare for this film. It is a large commitment for me to give (time) for one project, but the film demands it and I am more than happy to do it. I believe in the director and the film. Through this film we are trying to achieve something that hopefully will be landmark in our cinema.”
It has also been confirmed that Priyanka Chopra joined the cast in this exciting project. Speaking about working with the two lovely ladies, Ranveer had this to say. “I collaborated successfully in Gunday with Priyanka. In Bajirao Mastani, she works with me again as my wife.” With regards to Deepika, Ranveer mentioned the following: “I am extremely fond of her at a personal level, and am really proud of her, and am lucky and blessed to have her as Mastani. We were much loved as a couple in Ram-Leela. And Bhansali’s magnum opus, the way Bajirao Mastani is shaping up, Ram-Leela feels like a warm up!”
