There was increasing buzz that another Bollywood couple will soon be tying the knot, Ranvir Shorey and Konkona Sen Sharma. Though neither Koko nor Ranvir will comment, we can now report that it is indeed true. Koko’s mother Aparna Sen confirmed the engagement in an interview with Timesnow saying, “I’m very happy. I’m delighted that she is engaged. I wish him and her all the best. I love them both.”
On why the two have not made a statement Ranvir said, “It’s a personal choice. We like to keep our personal life away from the limelight. All I can say is I’m very content with my life and career.”
Though he says no comment on the engagement, he will talk about working with Konkona in a new short film for Mira Nair. Part of a project titled 8, Ranvir and Konokona will be in Mira’s film How Can It Be. Ranvir explained to IANS: “But this project is very special. It is a short film – part of a series on human rights made by the likes of Jane Campion, Gus Van Sant and Jim Wenders. Mira’s film is about women’s emancipation and we shot it in New York. Konkona plays the central character, but my role is no less pivotal.”
The two work well together and Ranvir says, “It’s an advantage to work with a friend. You can speak your mind freely without the fear of offending the other party.”
We will be sure to report if and when the two do decide to let us in on their engagement and of course if we hear wedding bells, so check back here often!
