2013 was an exciting year for BollySpice, with our reporters speaking to many of your favourite Bollywood stars across the world, from New York, to London, to Mumbai and beyond. We thought we should do a quick recap of some of our interviews from 2013 to see in the new year, with our promise to bring you bigger and better interviews in 2014. So here’s five of our favourites, in no particular order – as they were all great!

Hrithik Roshan and Priyanka Chopra

We met Hrithik and Priyanka in London for their promotions of Krrish 3. Both the stars were in a particularly hyperactive mood and were literally bouncing off one another! What made the interview though was a lesson from them in ‘Bro-codes’, where they refused to give in to our challenges of pitting Krrish the superhero against other contemporary superheros and instead gave us the virtues of the bro-code and why they simply could not do so.

Lauren Gottlieb

We spoke to American dancer and actress Lauren Gottlieb who made her debut in Bollywood with Remo D’Souza’s Bollywood dance film ABCD. Lauren then followed that up by appearing on the Indian dance reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa. Lauren was cool enough to give us two interviews this year and shared her experiences of working in ABCD and JDJ and both times was totally fun and fabulous!

Siddharth and Garima – Ram-Leela Writers

One of our most fascinating interviews of year was with the co-writers of Bhansali’s Ram-Leela. Not only were Siddharth and Garima able to take the Shakespearean epic romance from the 1500s and translate it to today, they also brought it to Gujarat and set it in a violent world of guns and in the process created their own incredible epic story. The duo treated us to an in-depth look into the creation of the script and dialogues and what goes behind creating cinematic magic. It was fantastic!

Ranbir Kapoor

We got quite a few opportunities to interview Ranbir in 2013 and each time he was simply warm and oh so charming. Before his super successful Yeh Jawani Hai Diwani and also for his not so successful Besharam, but film talk aside we got to speak to Ranbir about his other passion football! Or soccer as it’s known to many others. We think we may have even turned out to be his lucky charm, as each time we discussed his team, they won!

Nimrat Kaur

The Lunchbox simply blew us all away, so it was natural that we wanted to hear all about  it from the lead lady who delivered such an amazing performance, paired opposite Irrfan Khan. Nimrat played Illa and revealed to us the intricate details of behind-the-scenes work that went into creating Ila and talks about the film’s unforeseen triumph over both the classes and the masses! Despite being only 2 releases old, her debut film Peddlers premiered at Cannes last year, Nimrat’s dedication to her dream of succeeding in the performing arts is extremely commendable.

Those were just a few but there many more that deserve a mention: Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, Anuskha Sharma, Sunidhi Chauhan, Ranveer Singh, Deepika and Shah Rukh Khan.
