The Rifco Theatre Company has an exciting new show, the desi pantomime Surinderella. Rifco Theatre’s Associate Director Ameet Chana and music producer PBN (Heps) will be leading the creative team behind their upcoming production of Surinderella, which embarks on a tour this autumn.

Synopsis: Welcome to The Bolly-woods, where the naach is non-stop, the drama is bigger than your aunties, and the romance is straight out of a filmi blockbuster!

Meet Surinder – sweet, strong, and stuck in a never-ending chore list thanks to her two selfie-obsessed, Insta-vlogging stepsisters, Lovely & Bubbly. Her only real support? The one and only Basanti, a cow with more attitude than a desi girl.

Meanwhile, Prince Kavi is drowning in shaadi pressure from his royal family. But when he accidentally bumps into Surinder, sparks fly faster than a Bollywood dance sequence!

Enter the fabulous Devi Godmother, arriving in full-on glam mode with magic, makeovers, and masala moves. With a dazzling Bollywood Ball, a mystical slipper, and a lot of bakwas, Surinder’s destiny is about to get a serious glow-up!

Get ready for an evening of laughter, romance, and larger-than-life entertainment!

This marks the third Rifco production directed by Ameet Chana who previously directed Mushy: Lyrically Speaking and was the associate director for Frankie Goes to Bollywood.

The show will feature songs by renowned lyricist PBN. Heps Jandu, better known as PBN, is a British-born singer, composer, and music producer. With an outstanding contribution to the Asian music scene over the past decade, PBN has garnered international acclaim, topping both domestic and global charts. His electrifying performances have graced stages across the world. Dubbed “The Hitmaker”, he is celebrated for delivering on notable singles such as ‘Phatte Chuk Di’, ‘Aashiq’, ‘Fitteh Moo’, ‘Bhangra Paundi’, and ‘Aaj Meh Peeni’.

Completing the creative team are Hinal Pattani as Musical Director, Sonum Batra as Sound Designer, Joe Price as Lighting Designer and Anna-Marie Barber as Choreographer. Longtime Rifco Theatre collaborator Andy Kumar returns as Production and Costume Designer following his work on last year’s smash hit Frankie Goes to Bollywood, bringing his signature dazzling style to the production.

Pravesh Kumar, Artistic Director and writer, says: “I’m absolutely delighted to have Ameet and Heps leading the creative team. Surinderella is a magical Desi twist on the classic pantomime packed with laughter, music, and a whole lot of masala sparkle. It’s the fairy tale you know and love, reimagined with vibrant energy, colourful characters, and a touch of Bollywood flair fused with banging Desi beats. With Ameet and Heps at the helm, we’re all set for a fun-filled show the whole family will enjoy. See you in the Bolly-woods!”
