Contrary to reports that Rishab Shetty had “warned” Ranveer Singh against mimicking the dramatic sequence from Kantara, Chapter 1, the truth is, the Kantara actor had no idea of Ranveer’s plans on stage until it was too late.
Says a source very close to Rishab, “In fact Rishab was as taken aback by Ranveer’s antics as the rest of the audience. He nonetheless played along sportingly, hoping that the incident would blow over. Unfortunately, it didn’t. The repercussions of Ranveer’s insensitive crowd-‘funning’ were immediate.”
Now that Ranveer has issued a public image, Rishab Shetty is being urged by the Dhurandhar team to ask his fans to “back off” so that the release doesn’t get affected.
However, Rishab Shetty is in no mood to allow his cultural integrity to be taken lightly.
In an earlier interview (not related to the Ranveer mimicry incident) Rishab Shetty had told this writer, “What Kantara has done is to revive Kannadigas’ pride in their culture and heritage. This is my greatest achievement. And I won’t let any power on earth tamper with this.”
