New York City is home to some great film festivals: New York Film Festival, Tribeca Film Festival, NYC International Film Festival and of course: the New York ‘Indian’ Film Festival. In its 11th year and taking place between 4th-8th May next month, the festival is a celebration of feature films, documentaries, and shorts from across India.

This years selections include two prominent Bengali filmmakers Aparna Sen’s Iti Mrinalini and Rituparno Ghosh’s Noukadubi, but one of the main highlights of the festival and its opening film is Habib Faisal’s Do Dooni Chaar.

The film was released last October and starred Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh. It was produced by The Walt Disney Company India and was Habib Faisal’s directorial debut.

It’s great to see this sweet little film, depicting the middle class struggles of daily life, make it to the festival and with director Habib Faisal and both Mr. and Mrs. Kapoor there to walk the red carpet why not make it down and join them for the panel discussion? Or if you’re really up for it: the Gala dinner straight afterward!
