Riya Sen, fresh from Heroes, is striking up controversy with her statement that she is trying to lose weight, having felt she’d put on a bit recently. “I’ve been size-zero all of my life,” she says, “What’s the big deal about it?”
Riya has been showcased in the media as a goodtime girl, interested only in parties and events but she refutes this: “I know how to lead my life,” she says, “I spend most of my time with my close friends and family. Whenever I am in Kolkata, I spend time with my parents and hardly attend parties or events. But the media has created this image. I really don’t know why.”
Riya, who performed well in movies such as Tum Ho Naa and Shaadi No.1 is proud of her recent work as a village girl in Rituparno Ghosh’s movie Noukadubi. “My work in Noukadubi is the best in my career. Rituparno is extremely happy with my performance. This kind of work gives me the opportunity to reinvent myself. I have to relate to that village girl, portray her feelings and identify with her lifestyle.”
However, Riya does not see herself as making a permanent return to Kollywood and has two interesting Bollywood projects lined up. There’s Subhash Ghai’s Char Yaar with an all-star case including Neha Dhupia, Sayali Bhagat, Celina Jaitley and Aashish Chaudhary. Then this is scheduled to be followed by Krrish 2 with Hrithik Roshan and Rekha.
