Veer-Zaara (2004)
Veer-Zaara, in uncomplicated terms, a love story par excellence. The film tackled a cultural and religious divide as well as a romance made of moments and memories. Shah Rukh Khan gave an award-winning performance as an Indian Air Force squadron leader who spends 22 years in a Pakistani prison to protect the identity of Preity Zinta, a lady he fell for after spending two special days together.

The timeless music compositions, based on those by the late Madan Mohan, were enormously admired. However, it is safe to say that the film was a great package from start to finish, from supporting caste to dialogues. The characters were very well-written and the everlasting feel of the story coupled with Yash Chopra’s superb direction gave Veer-Zaara an appeal unmatched by any other film in recent years.

Hum Tum and Dil Ne Jise Apna Kaha were also released in 2004, both appealing to the viewers with their innovative styles.
