Joining the bandwagon of the West-bound Bollywood stars this year is Ronit Roy. The well-known film and TV star has bagged Rohit Karn Batra’s Hollywood film, ‘The Field’. Although this will be Ronit’s first Hollywood project, it will be a second international outing for the actor who was earlier a part of Deepa Mehta’s ‘Midnight’s Children’. ‘The Field’ revolving around a crime family is expected to go on the floors in April and besides Ronit stars Radhika Apte and Neeraj Kabi.
When contacted, Ronit confirms and reveals that he plays an elder brother in the mafia thriller that has a motley crew including Indian, British and American actors. The actor says, “I begin shooting in April. It is a period film portraying old Delhi, but it has a very international flavour.”
Adding that he is looking forward to the experience, Ronit furthers, “I accepted the role because it’s a very interesting character that is part of a great story. Rohit (director) has been living with the script since quite a few years. His conviction in the script has also helped me make a decision to do it.”
As for sharing screen space with Radhika Apte for the first time, Ronit adds, “This is my first film with Radhika, I’ve never worked with her but I’ve seen her work. She’s immensely talented and I feel she will give a new dimension to her part.”
