Remakes of a remake are not new to b-town. Multiple remakes too are not new. But in most cases, there is a conscience effort to release the films with a good amount of time in between so each film gets its share of the success pie. Yet in the case of Telugu film Vikramarkudu, after being remade in Tamil and Kannada, it is when the film is remade by Sanjay Leela Bhansali with Prabhu Deva in the directors chair that we have a competition of sort brewing.
Starring Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha titled Rowdy Rathore, the Bengali version of the film titled Bikram Singha is making haste to be ready and released before the Hindi version. Something that it’s lead actor Prosenjit Chatterjee openly admits when speaking to the Mumbai Mirror. “We’re indeed doing a Bengali remake of the same Telugu film that Rowdy Rathore has been adapted from. My film Bikram Singha, is being directed by Rajeev. It is produced by Eskay Movies. Yes, we hope to complete and release our film before Rowdy Rathore. But please, there’s no war between the two films.” point noted.
Yet if you rewind your memory back to 2002, when the same Bhansali was working on his magnum opus Devdas, Chatterjee was quite certain he wanted the Bengali version to be made a released before the Hindi one. Hmmm, A fact that makes you think, no?
