Deepika Padukone and Ramya were in celebration mood, together with 30,000 Bangalorean fans as the Royal Challengers thumped the Kings XI Punjab by eight wickets in a steamy contest at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. Even though the Kings stormed to what appeared to be an unassailable 203, the Challengers saw them off with over an over to spare, provoking celebrations all around the ground and throughout the worldwide television audience.

A disappointed Preity Zinta, the Kings owner, left the stands quickly, ostensibly to console her boys in the changing rooms – almost worth losing for the pleasure of that, I would think! That’s two games in a row the Kings have lost – but Preity’s keeping a brave face on it. “We played well but Bangalore played better!” she analysed with great lucidity, “Got to give credit where its due! 14 more games to go till its all over! Today we were the losing side but that’s ok! Both previous IPL’s we lost our first two games ! We will come back with a bang! I know it!”

Ramya, also known as Divya Spandana, is thrilled to have been chosen as a Challengers ambassador. “I’m very much excited about it,” she says, “A block, which accommodates 800 fans, has been named after me in Chinnaswamy grounds. Bangalore. The organizers have told me that tickets for my block are selling out like hot cakes. Another bonus is that Powerstar Puneet Rajkumar will also be cheering for the Royal Challengers.”
