Halla Bol actress Rushita Singh had to endure five rounds of auditions before being cast in Julia Roberts’ Eat, Pray, Love based on the best-selling novel by Elizabeth Gilbert. The film also stars Billy Crudup and Javier Bardem. “Whilst she is an Oscar winner, I’ve just started off,” says Rushita, “The very first day that I went to Gurgaon was also the day when I first met her. On the sets, she transformed into Elizabeth Gilbert and did whatever her role required. And that included mopping floors as well.”
Rushita is now taking her Bollywood career very seriously and would love to work down south too. “All the Bollywood films that I did, happened incidentally,” she explains, “Now, I’m serious about my Bollywood career. I’m also keen on doing South Indian films. I can speak a bit of Kannada and would love to take up projects down South.”
Rushita also appeared in the under-rated Zinda with Sanjay Dutt, John Abraham and Lara Dutta – a remake of the Korean movie Old Boy. It’s a revenge movie about a man who is released from jail after being imprisoned for fourteen years without reason and has just four days to find out why it happened to him.
