Sonam Kapoor will not be making her debut down south, as she has decided not to go ahead with Mani Ratnam’s new Tamil movie, which is debuting Tamil actor Karthik’s son Gautham. Sonam’s loss has become latest upcoming actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s gain. Even though Mani wanted Sonam to play the role, she unfortunately was not ready and didn’t want to give out wrong signals to the Hindi cinema industry. Samantha is excited about the opportunity, expressing that “It’s more than a dream come true for me…I am looking forward to working with such a revered filmmaker”.
Samantha was introduced into the industry first by director Gautham Menon, through his Telegu film Ye Maaya Chesave. Now, she will debut in Hindi films with Menon’s Assi Nabey Poore Sau. Apparently, Sonam was also considered for the role but Samantha became the final decision. Aditya Roy Kapoor will star alongside Samantha “where the pair transition from age 15-25 throughout the movie. The characters’ lives have been pulled off effortlessly by the lead pair…the transformation is startling” says the director.
The film is set to release this April where it has been alleged that Samantha will be launched as the next Sridevi in Bollywood.
