Sameera Reddy has joined the cast of the comedy De Dana Dan. She will be joining Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif and Neha Dhupia in the movie, the latter three reuniting after Singh is Kinng! “I’ve never worked with the director Priyadrshan before,” she said, “But I think he liked my comic timing in Race where I played Anil Kapoor’s airheaded assistant. That’s how I am in De Dana Dan too. I’ve always been a big Priyan fan, by the way.”
After first catching our attention in Darna Mana Hai, Sameera has made some good choices in her career having appeared in Taxi No.9211, No Entry, Race and One Two Three. She divides her time between Bollywood and the South. Her Kollywood movie Vaarinam Aayirnam is being released Nov 14th, in which she appears with Surya Sivakumar. Socially-conscious Sameera can also be seen currently in Mira Nair’s short movie on AIDS called Migration, in which she appears with Irrfan Khan.
She’s proud of her role in Yeh Honsla currently being filmed down South. She points to pictures of herself in the production. “Don’t I look very different in these pictures?” she asks, “I’m sure people won’t be able to recognise me on screen. I’ve worn no make-up and it’s a non-glamorous role – that of a Dalit woman.”
Her modeling career is also developing well. She recently walked the ramp for free in Delhi in aid of breast cancer awareness and was also treading the boardwalk at the Lakme Fashion Week last week, this time for Raghavendra Rathore.
