Sanjay Mishra’s starrer ‘Masaan’ selected at 68th Cannes Film Festival

15may_SanjayMishraAfter impressing one and all with his performance in films like Dum Laga Ke Haisha, Ankhon Dekhi, Phas Gaye Re Obama, Bhootnath Returns, Khiladi 786 and several others, versatile actor Sanjay Mishra is all set to showcase his talent, for the first time on international shores.

Sanjay Mishra’s latest film Masaan, which is directed by Neeraj Ghaywan and stars Richa Chadda has been selected for the Un Certain Regard section, at the 68th edition of the prestigious Cannes Film Festival, which will start on May 13. The actor is playing the role of a pandit who sells pooja material on the ghats of Benaras in Masaan.

“So far none of my films have ever been to an international festival so I am very excited that finally the world will see my work,” says an elated Mishra.

Sanjay Mishra, who will also don a tuxedo for the first time in his life for the screening at Cannes, is all praises for his team and the director as he says, “I am also happy for my entire team which has worked very hard. At the same time I am impressed with my director who marks his debut with this film. During the shooting of the film, Neeraj would tell me that Masaan is meant for the international market and this has come true.”

He further adds, “I have been in the industry for a very long time and don’t even know how many films I have done so far. Earlier, I would do any film for a living but now I am focusing on choosing good films like Aankhon Dekhi, Dum Laga Ke Haisha and Masaan so I am happy that people are approaching me with good scripts.”

Mishra is all set to play many other interesting characters in future, as his hands are full with some exciting film projects. The award winning actor will next be seen in Rohit Shetty’s Dilwale.
