Directed by David Dhawan, the Coolie No. 1 remake of the 1995 hit film has begun it shoot in Bangkok. The cast that includes Varun Dhawan and Sara Ali Khan have been in preparation for this cool film and now are ready to take their marks.
Varun told PTI though the title is the same, this will be it’s own movie, “When we do something like this the idea is that the essence has to be the same. But at the same time, the film is completely different. It is not a remake, it is an adaptation. But the title is the same.”
Writer Farhad Samjhi agrees saying to PTI that he has created a new tone to the film , “’Coolie No 1′ is a fairly easy film with no frills attached. The audiences know it’s a David Dhawan film with his son so they’ll come for the punches, the jokes, the character. We had to work that out. It’s a 25-year-old film so I’ve tried to modernise as much as I could. It’s an adaptation with a stellar cast. There are several fresh scenes and it’s really a fun film.”
