Prakash Jha’s Satyagraha is in the making and how! One of India’s best bands, Indian Ocean, has composed a track for this film which is said to be the ‘youth anthem’ for the present youth. Prakash Jha is very happy with the track and said it is brilliant. Not only has the band composed the track, they will also be a part of the movie. According to a source, they have been flown down to Bhopal for a three day shooting schedule. “The idea is to have the band in the song to motivate one and all and encourage them to stand for their rights,” added the source.
Following that, Prakash Jha is using Mahatma Gandhi’s Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram in the film and is featuring it on Amitabh Bachchan, who is reportedly playing a role which is inspired by Anna Hazare. He said that the song comes at a crucial juncture in the life of the character that Amitabh Bachchan is playing. “Anna is Gandhian and this bhajan was one of Gandhiji’s favourite bhajans and he had sung it to his followers during the Dandi March as well. Since Amitji’s character is inspired by Mahatma Gandhi’s philosophies, this song was the right choice to include in the film,” he said.
The cast of Satyagraha is a perfect blend of the industry’s talent, and they have been keeping their fans in their loop about everything going on with the film. Arjun Rampal has been tweeting almost every day from the sets. Some of his tweets include: ” Filming of Satyagraha in full swing. Getting my own rhythm going. A difficult but important film. Hope it brings the much needed change.” Amitabh Bachchan, who is also said to be fasting like Anna in the film, has constantly kept his fans in the loop about the film and its various aspects through his religious tweets and blog updates. He also wrote a very adorable post about seeing Kareena Kapoor grow up ‘so fast’, recalling an incident on the sets of a film with Randhir Kapoor where Bebo was visiting and was upset to see Big B ‘beat up’ her father.
Satyagraha is Bebo’s first full-fledged film after marriage and she is reportedly playing the CNN reporter Christiane Amanpour, an international correspondent. She has worked very hard to prepare herself for the role and is seen sporting a casual western avatar as a journalist.
Knowing the perfectionist that Prakash Jha is, he has looked into every detail of the movie very carefully. Since the film is based extensively in Bhopal, he has reportedly rented out a ground in the very heart of Bhopal and constructed a grand set. A source said, “A four acre ground called Benazir Ground has been rented out for 6 months now. The production, set designing and decoration teams have created an entire mohalla (locality) there. It is an enormous set and has everything that a locality has from a theatre to a market.” Prakash Jha confirmed the news and said, “Yes. I have rented out that ground for my set. My team has made me proud by working hard and making exactly what I wanted, which is a set that has never been done before.”
Satyagraha appears to be a very promising film and is slated to release in August. Here are some shots from the sets of the film and the first look. Keep watching this space for more Bollyspice updates!
