Shah Rukh Khan was discharged from Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai on Wednesday evening after having undergone successful surgery for his right shoulder on Tuesday. The 47-year-old Bollywood superstar was meant to have the surgery quite a while ago, but had to postpone it due to his hectic schedule. A source close to Shah Rukh confirmed the news by stating the following. “The surgery went off well and he is absolutely fine. Shah Rukh got discharged at around 8.30pm. His wife Gauri was with him.”

Shah Rukh’s son Aryan Khan flew to Mumbai from London to be with his father. Shah Rukh had been experiencing pain whilst shooting for Chennai Express, but nevertheless continued to work at his best. He even refused to use body doubles whilst shooting for some of the stunt sequences for the film. Shah Rukh wrapped up shooting for Chennai Express on May 25. He insisted that he will only have surgery once the project was fully completed and relied on medication in order to deal with the pain.

Shah Rukh’s surgeon Dr. Sanjay Desai praised him for not travelling abroad to have this procedure and stated the following to a leading Indian newspaper.  “The surgeries are termed as arthroscopic surgeries and most people prefer flying abroad for these procedures. I am glad that Shah Rukh kept his faith in Indian doctors for this.”
