Shah Rukh Khan underwent successful surgery on Tuesday at Lilawati Hospital in Mumbai. The 47 year old actor had surgery to repair a shoulder injury which he sustained whilst shooting for Rohit Shetty’s upcoming film Chennai Express. Shah Rukh was meant to have the procedure last month, but has had to postpone it due to his hectic schedule. This included his commitments with the Kolkata Knight Riders at IPL, the shooting of Chennai Express, as well as attending and performing at the IIFA awards in Vancouver last month. In the past, Shah Rukh has had three broken ribs, a twisted ankle and a broken right toe, an injury to his left shoulder, a neck injury, a broken back bone and an injured left knee.
Commenting on the seriousness of the injury before surgery, a close source stated the following to a leading Indian newspaper. “He (Shah Rukh) may appear on television as someone who is always on his feet dancing and entertaining everyone. But the truth is, every morning he wakes up with an excruciating pain and is unable to move his shoulders till a massage loosens up the muscles. Despite the debilitating pain, he shot an intense action scene in Hyderabad for the film (Chennai Express).”
Shah Rukh has apparently insisted to his doctors that he goes home to rest after surgery rather than remain in hospital.
Bollyspice wishes Shah Rukh a very speedy recovery!
