B-Town director Vishal Bhardwaj is popularized for making films inspired by Shakespeare. First there was Maqbool (Macbeth) in 2003 and then Omkara (Othello) in 2006. Now, Vishal is expected to make another movie based on the English playwright! Both Maqbool and Omkara carried with them interesting stories, and respectively received positive reviews, hence it comes as no surprise Bhardwaj has chosen to make a similar style of film. Although no title has been finalized at such an early stage, the story will apparently be a loose adaption of Shakespeare’s Hamlet, and it will indeed be interesting to see how the tragedy of Hamlet will be translated into a Hindi movie.

But wait! We have some further good news to share with you. Not only has Bhardwaj’s recent directorial venture been finalised, but actor Shahid Kapoor has also been confirmed to play the lead role in this film. Speaking with the Hindustan Times, the actor said, ‘yes, I have been confirmed (for the film) just a few days back. This will be my second movie with Bhardwaj. This movie will challenge me as an actor’.

After being a part of rom-com films such as Phata Poster Nikhla Hero, Shahid will be given the opportunity to unleash his potential further in a politically violent saga. It sure will be exciting to see Shahid in an unusual avatar, and equally exciting to see how Bhardwaj portrays Shahid as Hamlet on the big screen. Whilst it is believed that shooting of the film will commence in Kashmir during the end of this year/early 2014, Bhardwaj has yet to finalize which B-town damsel Shahid will be paired opposite! We hear that both Ileana D’Cruz and Shraddha Kapoor are in the foreseeable pipeline.

We will sure keep you updated with some more inside news!
