Nawazuddin Siddiqui is on a high. If Kick brought him into mainstream cinema last year, 2015 has seen a fantabulous performance from him in Badlapur. While he would be reuniting with Salman Khan in Bajrangi Bhaijaan, pretty soon he would also begin shooting with Shahrukh Khan for Fan. Meanwhile with director duo of Raj and D.K., he is committed to get going on Farzi, where he has Shahid Kapoor as his co-star.
Say Raj, “It is always good to have Nawaz on board. He is a fantastic actor and we always had him in mind. When we roped him in more than six months back, we got the cast we wanted. People are seeing a new him today though, especially after films like Kick, where he walked away with accolades despite it being a Salman film, and now Badlapur.”
One looks forward to the kind of histrionics that are on display with Nawaz and Shahid coming together. If he managed to hold each and every scene on his own, despite Varun’s presence in Badlapur, it is pretty much expected that there would be fireworks in Farzi as well.
No wonder, the makers are excited to see him along with Shahid.
“We had discussed Farzi with Shahid almost two years back,” says D.K., “He fitted the role really well. Also, from Day One he too was pretty kicked about it. He had seen our Shor In The City, so in a way he knew what we brought on the table. When we met him, we felt he was perfect for the part. As an actor he can turn into any character. He has done that in Haider and in many other films in the past. Farzi offers a very unique role for him and again, we expect him to become the character and just blend into the world that we have created for the film.”
So how is the ground being laid out for this Eros production to go on floors?”
We are just finishing up the final draft of the film. The team is in pre-production right now and we are trying to get into it fully as soon as we lock the script. We need a couple of months of preparation time at least. Next week, we will sit and schedule the dates,” confirms Raj.
Now all one looks forward to is a truly original and interesting film arriving on screens. Hopefully Farzi does manage to fit the bill.
