As we told you yesterday, a teaser for Shahid Kapoor’s new film was going to release just for Diwali. Apparently Diwali was the perfect day to “shine light” on the film because it deals with with the plight against escalating electricity bills.
Titled Batti Gul Meter Chalu, the social issue film is directed by Shree Narayan Singh, written by the great Siddharth-Garima and produced by KriArj Entertainment and T-series.

Upon the release of the teaser, Shahid tweeted, “Let’s celebrate the festival of light with the hope that soon electricity will be a right and not a privilege for all.”
In an interview about the film with a leading publication, producer Prernaa Arora of KriArj Entertainment said, “This films has a lot of heart and soul. It’s a fantastic story with a great message.”
Going on to praise Shahid, the producer said Shahid is perfect for the role and in fact it is ‘tailor made’ for the talented actor, “He’s one of the industry’s finest actors and will do complete justice to the role.”
The director completely agrees about Shahid, “Shahid is immensely talented. He is one of my favorite actors.”
Still in pre-production with the final cast, including the leading lady to be finalised, this intriguing and exciting film is set to go to the floors in January 2018.
