Shahid Kapoor, who is one of the best dancers in Bollywood, is preparing to show off his fabulous talent in Ken Ghosh’s new film Yahoo (a working title). The film, centered around dance and music is going to have dance sequences by two very hot choreographers. But they are not from Bollywood; they are none other than Justin Timberlake’s choreographer Marty Kedulka and Britney Spears’ choreographer Brian Friedman.
Producer Ram Mirchandani confirms this saying, “We have kind of closed the deal with Martin and talks are on with Britney Spears’ chorographer as well. This is going to be Bollywood’s first genuine dance movie. Marty Kudelka who has choreographed many shows for Justin Timberlake and has also worked with J.LO, Mandy Moore, Donnell Jones, O-Town and Mariah Carey among others was approached by Ken in LA and he is thrilled at the prospect of doing a Bollywood’s dance movie.”
Director Ghosh, who worked with Shahid in Ishq Vishq, is excited about the project and said, “This is my fastest script so far. I completed it within 5 months and narrated it to Shahid when he was shooting in Toronto. From there I went to LA and hooked up with Marty Kedulka and Brian Friedman. This movie will take dance to the next level and who can be a better actor than Shahid Kapoor. He has really evolved as an actor.”
Shahid (or Mr Sha’hit’ as some are calling him) said about the project, “It’s going to be a challenge, but I’m ready to accept it. I’m glad at the early stage of my career I’m getting something like this. I’m told it is going to be Bollywood’s first dance movie and dance is my USP.”
Co-starring with Shahid in the film will be Jiah Khan, who made her debut opposite Amitabh Bachchan in Nishabd. Jiah supposedly beat out Amrita Rao and Kangana Ranaut for the plum role. This will be the first time Jiah and Shahid will be on screen together and it will be interesting to see if their jodi lights up the screen.
Yahoo is said to be the most expensive film in Bollywood based around music and dance. We certainly look forward to seeing it when it comes to theaters. Be sure to watch this space for more news about this intriguing film.
