Acclaimed filmmaker Shekhar Kapur, celebrated for his compelling storytelling and directorial finesse, is preparing for his next Hindi venture, Masoom… The Next Generation. The film will continue the legacy of the 1983 classic Masoom. Recenly a special moment happened that showed the director that theme of home in his film was very important and would be felt by all.

During a recent narration session for the movie, Kapur had an unexpectedly but poignant interaction with a waitress at a hotel, which further fueled his confidence in the project. Kapur engaged in a heartfelt conversation with a waitress from Assam. Intrigued by her background, Kapur asked her about her family, hometown, and memories. The moment Kapur questioned her about her grandmother, the waitress burst into tears.

The incident, which moved Kapur, highlighted the powerful connection between the film’s themes of home and relationships, reinforcing the filmmaker’s belief in the film’s potential to resonate deeply with audiences.

In a previous interview, Kapur elaborated on the film’s theme, emphasizing the true essence of home beyond its physical form. “When people talk about home, it’s often seen as property or real estate, with its value measured in monetary terms,” Kapur explained. “But home is fundamentally about memories—every wall, every piece of furniture holds a piece of our lives. This film explores that deeper, emotional connection to the concept of home.”

In addition to Masoom… The Next Generation, which marks Kaveri Kapur’s acting debut, the Oscar-nominated and BAFTA-winning filmmaker is also set to direct a musical feature titled Ebony McQueen. The film follows Charlie McGarvey, an aspiring professional footballer whose dreams are shattered by a severe injury. The story then explores Charlie’s journey of self-discovery through music, illustrating how he finds a new path to pursue his passions despite facing overwhelming challenges.
