Shilpa Shetty has another new and exciting project in the wings. Literally. She is going to star in a new musical titled Miss Bollywood in London. After a run at the West End, the show will eventually move to Broadway in New York.
It is being produced by Farhat Hussein and choreographed by Ganesh Hegde. Shetty is currently rehearsing for the show in London and Mumbai, and will have her opening night in September.
Shetty said that, “The musical will be on the lines of Webber’s Bombay Dreams. And though it’s crafted as a take on a day in the life of a Bollywood actress, the play is designed to cater to Western sensibilities.”
Well-known Indian designer Neeta Lulla is designing the costumes. “Since the musical is representing Indian culture and tradition, the costumes will be vibrant and energetic with heavy work,” Shetty says.
Dale Bhagwager, Shetty’s publicist said that, “Shilpa’s basic aim is to showcase Bollywood and Indian culture in the West. Her role requires lots of dancing and acting and that’s something she loves doing anyway.”
Shetty is very excited about this project and says, “I’ve done a few stage shows. The whole song-and-dance routine of a musical really fascinates me and I think I’m a natural in the art.”
We cannot wait to see this beauty take to the floorboards and would wish her lots of luck if it wasn’t considered bad luck in the theater world!
