After much speculation about the leading lady of the film, it has been revealed that the sweet, one-hit-old Shraddha beat her competitors Shruti Haasan and Amala Paul to the chase. Yes, Sanjay Leela Bhansali has cast the newbie of Aashiqui 2 fame, Shraddha Kapoor in his next project, Gabbar, together with Akshay Kumar.
Akshay is rarely seen on screen nowadays without the curvy Sonakshi Sinha by his side. He has been her lucky charm until now, but can he do the same for Shraddha?
The huge age gap between the stars has raised some eyebrows, but Bhansali, happy with her performance in Aashiqui 2, believes that Shraddha has the innocence that her character demands. An insider told the Hindustani Times, “Akshay and Shraddha have never worked together. This is going to be a fresh new jodi.”
However, Shraddha will not be the sole leading lady of the film. It has been rumoured that Kareena Kapoor may well be cast in the film as Akshay’s wife. The film’s director, Krish, has said that the cast is yet to be confirmed and that “it’s too early to confirm anything at this stage”.
Gabbar will be the Hindi remake of the Tamil action blockbuster Ramanaa in which the male protagonist launches on a journey to abolish corruption. The film has already been made in Telegu and Kannada, so lets see if the Hindi remake is equally well received by audiences at the box offices. The film goes on the floor next year.
Stay tuned we will bring you much more about this exciting project to come!
